It’s sort of hard to believe that this is all about to be over. I’m finishing a graduate school application, but I know that it’s not a program I’m in love with. I don’t have any job offers yet; I turned down two that I didn’t really like. It’s probably for the best now, since I’m sure I would’ve been laid off by both of them by now in the midst of all this. The most exciting thing happening right now is my project, and I’m really happy to be working on it. Currently, I’m editing an episode I recorded with Ben about Pulp Fiction, a movie I watched for the very first time this afternoon. Getting to consume and enjoy new media as well as revisit the stuff that I already love has been sort of my saving grace in the middle of all of this. It’s why I’ve always loved media, and it’s what drew me to studying it in the first place. Getting to learn about the things I love and understanding their place in the world has been so rewarding, and I’m so happy to be part of the process these days. Everyone is so worried about losing the point in their work, but making it really is the point. It’s been an absolute pleasure, and it’s so weird to think about not being part of this department anymore in just a couple of weeks. I’m so glad I chose it, especially looking back.
