Uses and Gratifications Theory seeks to explain the relationship between an audience and how that audience takes an active role in using the media. The main questions posed are: why do people use certain media platforms and what gratifications do they gain from it? Different people receive different gratifications from the media which is why I conducted a survey analysis to better understand how people integrate media into their lives to escape. My survey gave me a better insight into what gratifications other people seek when using media whether it’s to relax and stream entertainment or use media to reinforce social identity and connect with the world.
