Things have been going really well since my last blog! We now have ten weekly shows ranging from all different genres like rock, pop, alternative, to talk shows, sports etc. Throughout the past few weeks, I have been doing training sessions to show everyone how to use our equipment, scheduling all the shows, working on show posters, and just making sure everything is running smoothly. I was able to perfectly schedule everyones shows in a time that works alongside their classes. We have two shows on Tuesday, two shows on Wednesday, two on Thursday, three on Friday, and one on Saturday. I have mostly been working with all the different students to create their show posters which turned out PHENOMENAL! I made a good handful of posters (found a love for Canva in doing so) and some were created by the students themselves. Everyone has been catching onto the equipment and process very well with only minor technological issues. I made the official show schedule and printed a bunch of show posters which we are going to hang around campus this week. This week (4/22/22) we are participating in the Blitz carnival with a record painting table which I am super excited about! We also just submitted a big budget request to get more updated equipment, decorations, etc for the Arc to only get bigger and better in the years to come. Overall, I am so SO happy with how everything has been going with the Arc and I am so excited to see it flourish in the future. From the beginning of this semester when we walked into an abandoned radio station to a now usable and consistently growing one is such a beautiful thing to see. I am so thankful for each and every one of the people who participated in the restructuring and restarting of the Arc and cant wait to see what will happen next 🙂

As for Thesis night, it’s only 10 days away… I had a bit of a crazy idea last week to make a website for the Arc and have been working on it nonstop. At first, I went to WordPress since I am familiar with it but ran into the issue that WordPress doesn’t support audio files. I then switched to Wix which was a completely new experience. So far I created a home page with a link to Mixlr, ten individual pages with all the different shows, edited and added audio files for the pre-recorded shows, created a contact page, an interest form, and now just need to do some finishing touches. I’m still waiting on some students to send me their show descriptions and I’m working on an intro video for the home page but overall I’m happy with how it looks.

Here is it: https://thearcradio.wixsite.com/link

I need to meet with Alan to see what he thinks and to get his advice on how I should present my project on thesis night (hopefully he’ll like it and be able to clear things up for me). Since I don’t have a “traditional” thesis project I am a bit unsure of what that will look like but after I meet with him I’m sure that will all be cleared up and I will feel better about it. I’m so excited (nervous) for the next few weeks and can’t believe that I am almost done with college. It’s truly a surreal feeling but I know I will look back on it in the future and be proud of everything that I was able to accomplish. It’s going to be a crazy busy time but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

See you at thesis night 🙂
