For my creative thesis project, I will be creating digital pieces of art including (but not limited to) movie posters, social media posts, digital designs available on various products (stickers, sweatshirts, mugs, etc.), and prints, all revolving around films in the ‘Good For Her’ subgenre of horror/thriller. I have chosen the following six films to focus on:

  • Midsommar (2019)
  • Gone Girl (2014)
  • Ready Or Not (2019)
  • Us (2019)
  • Promising Young Woman (2020)
  • Hush (2016)

I know I want to create one reimagined movie poster for each film, but I’m not sure how many other forms of digital drawings I want to create for each film. Below is a list of potential concepts for the pieces I plan on doing. Please note that I am considering all of my artwork in progress until they are printed, though some are nearly done already. Also, this is not an exhaustive list!

Midsommar:

  • Movie poster
  • Yellow temple
  • Dani in the May Queen flower costume

Gone Girl:

  • Movie Poster
  • Amy Dunne covered in blood
  • Amy’s weapons (scissors, hammer, box cutter)
  • Amy’s parents’ “Amazing Amy” book cover incorporating Amy’s good for her moments

Ready or Not:

  • Movie poster
  • Grace smoking a cigarette
  • Grace’s gun & ammo
  • “Hide and Seek” playing cards replaced with “Good For Her” cards

Us:

  • Movie poster
  • Red’s scissors
  • Red’s scissors cutting out the “Hands Across America” logo

Good For Her genre/all films:

  • “Women Wielding Weapons” – each main characters weapon (Dani’s fire/torch, Amy’s box cutter, Grace’s rifle, Red’s Scissors, Cassie’s scalpel, and Maddie’s corkscrew)
  • Instagram “ad” for a Good For Her movie marathon
