Hello from the desk! I’ve been working on a magazine that will document some of the works of artists associated with the collective AMBROSIA. I founded this collective with a like-minded friend in 2022, at the end of my freshman year. In our launch event, we combined a DIY style concert with an arts show featuring rising musicians and artists from the DMV area. Additionally, the experience included an outdoor living room space where attendees could interact with a variety of curated objects and media while purchasing art and clothing from featured artists, organically integrated into this setting. Since then we have quietly worked within the underground music scenes, focusing on experimental hip-hop, in the DMV and New York City. We have also developed limited production clothing items and collaborated with a Tokyo-based luxury fashion brand. Artists associated with the group have been busy in their own endeavors around the world. My hope is that a compilation in the form of a magazine will provide an opportunity to further centralize and clarify the vision behind the group as a whole. The magazine is coming along okay so far. At this time I’m finalizing some preliminary layout, theme, and color decisions and beginning to solidify plans with artists and other individuals I intend to feature. Most of my work so far has involved creating supplemental graphics to compliment non-visual arts related articles and compiling older, unused work that fits this purpose. I have also made plans to spend time staying with some of the artists in question over spring break to document their recent work. I’m looking forward to putting everything together.
