Since I’m doing a poetry/short story book, I wanted to make sure I had a good base line down. I split my book up into roughly 7 sections and decided on the general idea or emotion that will house that section. After I had that, I knew what I needed to do, which is go through pieces I’ve already written. I love to write poetry, so I have roughly 70 pages of material I need to read
through and decide what I’m using and what I’m not. I’m still working on reading through it all, as I’m making edits while I do it to ones I’m adding to the book. As I’m doing that, I’m also write down ideas, topics, everything I need for when I write the rest of my poems and short stories.
