The Riddim Royalty Charity Event is just 14 days away! A lot has progressed since the last blog, including the event name. The event flyer was posted on March 16th to Instagram and Tiktok, along with drone footage to give a visual of the castle. The posts’ responses were honestly shocking and I had to make a ticket link out of fear of more people showing up than I can realistically handle. 130 people have RSVP’d so far. That being said, it has been beyond heartwarming to see hundreds of people supporting the event, excited that it is at Arcadia, discussing what they are going to wear, etc.

The rundown/schedule is complete, every booth is sorted, and I formed a team of volunteers  including Arcadia students and Glenside locals. I’ve been able to secure partnerships with local establishments, artists, and collectives in exchange for advertising through my company’s social media channels and media taken at the event. I’ve had a bit of difficulty securing the presenters, April has proven to be a busy month for most. Right now I have three presentations and the fourth is uncertain, the fifth had another obligation and had to drop out. I have a meeting with Metz to discuss having food at the event, which is the only aspect I am still unsure about.

All of the loose ends will be tied up in two weeks time and I think it’s working up to be a one of a kind event. I hope to introduce students to a new genre of music and a community of people who have similar values as Arcadia, and that with community comes the ability to make real change in our society.
