I started helping my friend Raphy edit the song. We recorded vocals and guitar and got really excited about how it’s coming together. I still need to sort out some photography, so I might dig through my old folders and take some new shots too. I’m also planning to draw a bunch of small pieces digitally in Procreate that we can layer into the music video.
We’re still figuring out the tuning and whether we should bring the song down an octave, but I’m mostly leaving that decision up to her since it’s her project.
Once the snow melts, I want to film some B-roll and take more photos. In the meantime, I’m thinking about starting on some doodles and little multimedia elements we can incorporate into the video.
Raphy is planning a thrift store trip so we can find the perfect white dress for her to wear. We’re hoping for something slightly ill-fitting and kind of haunting to match the vibe.
She also chose her artist name: Saint Raphaela. She thought it sounded corny when she told me, but I completely disagreed. I think it’s so cool, and it fits the dramatic, almost fallen from grace, sacred energy she wants in her music. We’ve also been scouting filming locations, like a cemetery, a willow tree, and a big open field where she can run through the grass.
